The IAOM (International Association of Orofacial Myology) is the only professional organization who trains and certifies professionals in this specialty. A degree in speech therapy, dentistry or dental hygiene is a prerequisite before training and certification. Karen Samuel, founder of North Texas Orofacial Myology, is a Certified Orofacial Myologist and also offers IAOM approved beginning courses in Orofacial Myology.   She has an extensive background as both a clinician and educator in dental hygiene.  She offers several continuing education courses each year to the dental community.
